Peggy Post Grunland

Peggy Post Grunland

Peggy Grunland’s father was Leo, the oldest son of Feodor Postnikov.  She never lived in the house, but remembers that her great-grandmother, Victoria Smirnova, had the pictures of about 25 Russian Orthodox saints on the plate rail above the wainscoting in the dining room.  Mrs. Smirnova would pray to each of the saints each day.  She encouraged Peggy to join the Orthodox Church, but that never happened.  Peggy’s Aunt Valeria, the only daughter of the Postnikovs, in conjunction with her brother Seraphim, wrote a book about the family which contains many photographs from several family albums.  Peggy Grunland has the remaining photographs.  The book is in the Bancroft Library at UC Berkeley.
